About Us

Whatcom County has a charter, like the U.S. Constitution, it is the official specification for Whatcom County government. It is not intended to impose an agenda. It describes the structure and operation of county government.

The Charter Review Task Force is a group of people committed to monitoring the charter review process, attending meetings, and supporting commissioners who are dedicated to voting by district to provide equitable representation for all residents of Whatcom County.

The culture of Whatcom County is diverse, with urban, suburban and rural interests. The districts, while roughly equal in population, have populations with distinctly different demographics. We believe the citizens of Whatcom County have the right to elect representation that reflects their needs and preferences.
